Screenshot to Image Converter
Convert browser screenshots to clean image files online free — trim, resize and export as PNG or JPG. No upload required — instant, private, in-browser.
Turn a plain screenshot into a polished image with a gradient background, rounded corners and a soft drop shadow. Paste straight from your clipboard with Ctrl+V — no saving a file first — and every adjustment re-renders live. Runs entirely in your browser: no upload, no sign-up, no watermark.
Paste, do not save
The fastest workflow here skips files entirely. Take a screenshot with your normal shortcut so it lands on the clipboard, come to this page, and press Ctrl+V (or Cmd+V). The paste listener works anywhere on the page, so there is no picker to open and nothing to name.
That matters more than it sounds for the actual use case. Most screenshots destined for a post or a document are transient — you do not want them cluttering a downloads folder. Dropping a file in and importing from cloud storage both work too, but clipboard is the reason to bookmark this page.
What you can change
| Control | Options | Default |
|---|---|---|
| Background | 4 gradients, solid colour with a picker, or transparent | Blue Aura gradient |
| Padding | 0–160px, in steps of 8 | 64px |
| Corner radius | 0–48px, in steps of 4 | 16px |
| Drop shadow | On or off | On |
| Export format | PNG, JPG or WebP | PNG |
There is no apply button — the composite rebuilds the moment you change anything, so the preview is always exactly what will download. Worth knowing: setting padding and radius both to 0 gives you an unmodified export, which turns this into a plain format converter when that is all you need.
Your screenshot is never scaled
The capture is drawn at its exact original pixel size. Padding is added around it, so the canvas grows rather than the image shrinking — a 1200 × 800 screenshot with 64px of padding exports at1328 × 928. No resampling happens at any point, so text in a UI screenshot stays as crisp as it was captured.
That is the opposite of what happens if you paste a screenshot into a slide or a document and drag it to fit, which resamples and softens it. Frame it here first and insert it at its natural size.
Two things about the drop shadow and transparency
The shadow is cast by drawing a solid white card behind the screenshot and blurring its edges. That produces a convincing lift on a gradient, and it has two consequences worth knowing:
- A transparent screenshot gets a white backing. If your capture has transparent areas of its own, the white card shows through them. Untick Add Soft Drop Shadow to remove it.
- Choosing the Transparent PNG background disables the shadow automatically, since a shadow needs something to fall onto. That is intentional — it keeps the export genuinely transparent rather than shipping a stray grey smudge.
And the format warning is worth heeding: pick Transparent PNG plus JPG export and a notice appears, because JPEG has no alpha channel and the background will come out white. PNG is the default for exactly this reason; WebP also keeps transparency at a smaller size.
Which format to export
- PNG — lossless, keeps transparency, and the right default. UI screenshots are full of text and hard edges, which is what PNG handles best.
- WebP — smaller than PNG for the same image and still supports transparency. The best choice if the graphic is going on a web page you control.
- JPG — smallest, no transparency, and it softens text. Use it only where JPEG is required, and expect the fringing around lettering that JPEG always produces.
Where framed screenshots earn their keep
A raw screenshot on a coloured page looks like a mistake — a hard-edged rectangle floating in the layout. A framed one reads as a deliberate graphic. In practice:
- Social posts. A code snippet or a chart on a gradient card stops the scroll in a way a bare screenshot does not.
- Documentation and guides. Rounded corners and a shadow separate the UI being shown from the page showing it, so readers stop confusing the two.
- Slides and pitch decks. Consistent padding and background across every screenshot in a deck is what makes it look designed rather than assembled.
- Changelogs and release notes. Transparent PNG exports drop onto whatever background your site already uses.
One caution before posting: screenshots leak more than people intend — open tabs, filenames, notification previews, account names in a sidebar. Crop the frame down with theimage cropper before framing it, and check the edges of the preview.

If the export needs to be smaller, the image compressor targets a file size, androunded corner image applies just the corner radius to any picture. For plain format changes, the image format converter is simpler.
Frequently Asked Questions
How do I turn a plain screenshot into a polished image?
Press Ctrl+V (or Cmd+V) anywhere on this page to paste straight from your clipboard, or drop an image file in. A gradient background, rounded corners and a drop shadow are applied immediately, and every change you make re-renders live. Then download. Can I paste directly without saving a file first?
Yes, and it is the fastest way to use this. Take a screenshot with your usual shortcut so it lands on the clipboard, come to this page and press Ctrl+V. There is no need to save to disk, open a picker or name anything — the paste listener works anywhere on the page.Do I have to press an apply button?
No. The composite re-renders automatically whenever you change the background, padding, radius, shadow or format, so the preview always shows exactly what you will download. Adjust the sliders and watch the result rather than guessing and re-running.What backgrounds are available?
Four gradients — Blue Aura, Sunset Glow, Fresh Mint and Dark Slate — plus Solid Color with a full colour picker, and Transparent PNG for dropping onto your own background. Blue Aura is selected by default and the solid picker starts on near-black.How much can I adjust the framing?
Padding runs from 0 to 160 pixels in steps of 8, defaulting to 64, and corner radius runs from 0 to 48 pixels in steps of 4, defaulting to 16. Set padding to 0 and radius to 0 for a plain unmodified export, which is a quick way to just change format. Why did my transparent background come out white?
Because JPG was selected as the export format, and JPEG cannot store transparency. A warning appears when you pick both together. Choose PNG or WebP to keep the transparent background, and PNG is the default for exactly this reason. Why is there a white edge behind my transparent screenshot?
The drop shadow is drawn by placing a solid white card behind the image, which is what casts it. If your screenshot has transparent areas of its own, that white card shows through them. Untick Add Soft Drop Shadow to remove it.Does it change the screenshot resolution?
The screenshot itself is drawn at its exact original pixel size — nothing is scaled or resampled. The canvas simply grows by the padding on each side, so a 1200 by 800 capture with 64 pixels of padding exports at 1328 by 928. Detail is never lost.
